Woven Tree Arbor by Tyler Buswell
Through the use of organic found materials on the Liberate Property, Tyler Buswell (with the help of Journey Blain and others), creates the Liberate Welcome gate. Since the 2nd annual Liberate, walking under this arbor has given people a sense of being a part of nature. We look forward to seeing his vision actualized again this year.

Kerry Kaye Fire Arts
There is something inside each one of us when watching a fire burn that makes it hard to look away. Fire allowed our ancestors to cook food, create tools, keep warm during long winters, and to feel comfortable and safe from the dangers of the wild. Fire connects us in a way that little else can. In modern society we rarely make use of fire to fulfill our basic needs anymore. We are lacking an integral part of what makes us human! Kerry Kaye fire shows bring back that missing element that connects us all. You won’t be disappointed!

Large-Scale Paintings to live music by Nicholas Backwood Heilig
Drawing from disparate source material, Nicholas Heilig juxtaposes the subversive, graphic power of stencils and street art with the spare detail of Japanese woodcuts. His limited palette of black and white results in nuanced black ink drawings that vibrate with half-hidden imagery. In his latest series, Heilig has produced live art as performance, joining with musicians to create full sensory experiences on a larger scale than ever before. His latest adventures have taken him to numerous venues across the state of Vermont, including a festival tour, ending with this years Liberate! He has painted for the likes of Wombaticus Rex, Eskmo, Chrissy Murderbot, as well as local legends: Mushpost, and DJ Kanga. Heilig will continue his tour with two live sets at this years festival.

Multi-Media Sculpture by Alex Williams
Through the usage of a multi-media based style of creating sculpture/installation art, the images and textures used help to create a space to entertain and prompt thoughts for the viewer. The soul of the theme is getting back to nature, the key usage of the trees surrounding the camp grounds help to further hinge that connection. The combination of nature along with the upbeat music that will be occurring all weekend are seen throughout Alex’s work, drawing together these two elements in a seamless connection. As a recent graduate from The University of Vermont the melting of her love for music and art is a dream come true.

Journey Blain: Liberate Peace Flags
Randolph High School students in Journey’s art class designed a program to help children in Brookfield School (ages 9 and 10), understand the big idea of “Peace,” as conflict mediation and resolution. The result is the creation of Peace Flags (based on the Tibetan Buddhist prayer flags), made specially for the Liberate Festival. The school also ran the “Pennies for Peace” program to raise money for schools in Afghanistan. All of the students worked together to create this communal artwork.
